Tydzień temu liturgia słowa wyjaśniła, na czym polega pokora. Dziś,
przywołując postawę Świętego Pawła, daje konkretny przykład tej cnoty.
Apostoł musiał odznaczać się pokorą w stopniu doskonałym, skoro potrafił
wstawić się u Filemona, bogatego mieszkańca Kolosów, za Onezymem, który
był niewolnikiem i żbiegiem. Apostoł Narodów w pewnym sensie
zaryzykował utratę dobrego imienia, gdyby okazało się, że ów Onezym
nadużył jego zaufania. W ten sposób Święty Paweł zrealizował zachętę daną
przez Chrystusa w dzisiejszej perykopie ewangelicznej, aby wyrzec się
wszystkiego.
Wsłuchajmy się z uwagą w słowo Boże, bo w nim odnajdujemy mądrość w
postępowaniu.

Według prywatnych objawień Świętej Faustyny Kowalskiej największym
przymiotem Boga jest miłosierdzie. Prawdę tę potwierdza niejako dzisiejsza
liturgia słowa, która podkreśla, że Pan Bóg nieustannie jest gotów przebaczać Liturgy of the Word, which emphasizes that God is always ready to forgive
ludziom ich przewinienia. Co więcej, w tym pragnieniu jest cierpliwy i nie
zniechęca się tym, że człowiek w swojej wolności wybiera grzech. Święty
Paweł dopowie, że wcielenie, męka i śmierć Chrystusa były aktem wielkiego
miłosierdzia Boga w stosunku do grzeszników. Wobec tak niezmierzonej i
niczym niezasłużonej łaski pozostaje jedynie powtórzyć za Apostołem
Pawłem: „Królowi wieków nieśmiertelnemu, niewidzialnemu, Bogu samemu
cześć i chwała na wieki wieków”.
Otwórzmy nasze serca na głos Pana Boga.

Jak ubóstwo samo w sobie nie jest cnotą, tak również bogactwo nie jest z
natury czymś złym. Dopiero stosunek człowieka do tych rzeczywistości czyni
z nich cnotę albo grzech. Czytania biblijne, które dziś usłyszymy, piętnują
przede wszystkim nadużycia spowodowane złym wykorzystywaniem dóbr
materialnych. Żądza stawania się coraz bogatszym niszczy człowieka, ale
także niszczy jego relacje z Panem Bogiem i innymi ludźmi. Księga Proroka
Amosa oraz Ewangelia zwracają uwagę, że niewłaściwe podejście do dóbr
ziemskich może ściągnąć na niego karę.
Niech słowo Boże oczyszcza nas z żądzy posiadania i wyczuli serca na
potrzeby bliźnich.

Myśl wyrażona w dzisiejszych czytaniach odnosi się do kwestii posiadania
dóbr materialnych. Od zarania dziejów był to poważny i częsty problem. Jak
usłyszymy w czytanej dziś Księdze Proroka Amosa, a więc już w VIII wieku
przed Chrystusem, bogactwo nie przynosiło ludziom szczęścia. Chrystus
wiedział, że ludzi, wśród których żył na ziemi, również dotykał ten problem.
Dlatego opowiedział im przypowieść o bogaczu i Łazarzu. Nadmierna chęć
wzbogacenia się i życia w dobrobycie rozpala też wyobraźnię ludzi XXI
wieku, stąd problem ten wciąż jest aktualny. Dlatego warto podjąć refleksję
nad wskazaniami, których udzielił Święty Paweł w Liście do Tymoteusza.
Przyjmijmy słowo Boże do naszych serc i starajmy się według niego żyć.

A week ago, Liturgy of the Word explained, what humility is. Today,
recalling the attitude of St. Paul, it gives a concrete example of this virtue.
The Apostle had to have humility down perfectly since he was able to stand
up for Onesimus, a slave and fugitive, in front of Philemon of Colossae.
Apostle of the Gentiles, in a sense, risked the loss of reputation if it turned
out that Onesimus abused his trust. In this way, Paul executed the invitation
given by Christ in today's Gospel passage, to give up everything.
Let us listen attentively to the word of God, because in it, we find wisdom in
behavior.

According to the private revelations of Saint Faustina Kowalska, mercy is
God's greatest attribute. This truth is confirmed somewhat by today's
men for their transgressions. What's more, in this desire, he is patient and is
not discouraged by the fact that man in his freedom chooses sin. St. Paul
will add that the incarnation, passion and death of Christ was an act of
God’s great mercy toward sinners. Faced with such immense and
undeserved grace, nothing else remains but only to repeat after Paul the
Apostle, " Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be
honor and glory for ever and ever."
Let us open our hearts to the voice of the Lord God.

As poverty in itself is not a virtue, neither is wealth inherently a bad thing.
It was only the relationship of man to these realities that makes them virtue
or sin. Bible readings which we hear today, brand primarily abuses caused
by poor use of material goods. Lust of becoming richer destroys man, but
also destroys his relationship with God and other people. The Book of the
Prophet Amos and the Gospel point out that the wrong approach to earthly
goods can bring down on him a penalty.
Let the word of God cleanse us from greed and make hearts sensitive to the
needs of others.

September 25, 2016; 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The thought expressed in today's readings refers to the issue of ownership of
material goods. Since the dawn of history, it was a serious and common
problem. As we hear in today’s reading from the Book of the Prophet Amos,
and therefore already in the eighth century before Christ, wealth did not
bring happiness to people. Christ knew that this problem also touched the
people among whom he lived on earth. That is why he told them a parable
of the rich man and Lazarus. Excessive desire to get rich and live in
prosperity also ignites the imagination of people of the twenty-first century.
Hence, this problem is still current. It is therefore important to reflect on
the indications, given by St. Paul in his Letter to Timothy.
Let us accept the word of God into our hearts and try to live according to it.
